Óttar M. Nordfjörd (born in Reykjavík 1980) is a half Czech, half Icelandic screenwriter and novelist. He has a BA/MA degree in Moral Philosophy from The University of Iceland and The University of Aberdeen, but has also studied history, literature and arts. His crime novels have been published in the Hispanic World, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Luxembourg, Belgium, the Netherlands, Macedonia, France and Canada. His screenplays are at various different production stages, and the TV series The Valhalla Murders, which he's the head writer of, is Iceland's first Netflix Original series.

Before becoming a full-time writer, Óttar edited the culture paper for DV newspaper and wrote literary reviews. He has also been a pizza baker, a bookstore clerk, as an assistant teacher at The University of Iceland and taught screenwriting at the Icelandic Film School. He has written about philosophy and exhibited his paintings and collages. He lives in Barcelona with his Spanish wife and two sons.
