Next Book

I'm in an interview in Fréttablaðið today because of my next book, which is called Blóð hraustra manna (Brave Men's Blood). The book is a sequel to the Icelandic crime movie Borgríki (City State), directed by Ólafur Jóhannesson, also written by him and Hrafnkell Stefánsson. Here's the trailer. The movie is about Iceland's crime world and features some of Iceland's most famous actors, as well as actors such as Jonathan Pryce and Philip Jackson.

Last Christmas, Ólafur contacted me with the idea that I would write a sequel book to the movie, based on a rough movie treatment he and Hrafnkell had written. It has all the same major characters as in City State, but also introduces one new character. I said 'yes' to his proposal and now the book is ready, due to be published next autumn.

The movie itself will be shot next year and premiere in 2014. The distribution enterprise Celluloid Dreams already bought the rights to it, as well as to City State. And the remake rights for City State have also been sold to James Mangold, with New Regency pending to produce it.
